Participating as a speaker in the panel titled “Current Issue Areas in the Balkans,” moderated by Prof. Dr. Göktürk TÜYSÜZOĞLU at Giresun University Mevlana Lecture Hall on April 20, 2026, at 14:00, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayça EMİNOĞLU addressed the issue of Bosnia and Herzegovina, one of the major problem areas in the Balkan region. It was stated that the heavy bureaucracy brought by the Dayton Peace Agreement, which also constitutes the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the political system based on ethnic division rather than citizenship, have not contributed to resolving the existing issues.

The other speaker of the panel, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kader ÖZLEM, touched upon the political problems and border disputes among the Western Balkan countries and discussed potential problem areas that could emerge in the future. Furthermore, he stated that there have been certain shifts in political approaches in the region and that this approach has developed within the context of demands for European Union membership.

The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Giresun University, Prof. Dr. Servet CEYLAN, presented certificates of participation to the speakers and the moderator. We extend our gratitude to our esteemed professors for their valuable contributions.
